I-130 IR Consular Slowdown Continues

We have been tracking the I-130 IR Consular slowdown since it began in mid-February 2026. In our April 14th article, the Front of the Line had been frozen since March 16th and processing activity was down more than 50%. Four months later, the picture has not improved.

Processing Numbers

Monthly activity among Track My Visa I-130 IR Consular users continues to fall: 331 cases in February, 169 in March, 144 in April, 88 in May, 107 in June, and only about 60 so far in July. With the month nearly over, July is on track to be one of the weakest we have recorded since the start of the slowdown, which is even more striking given our growing user base.

An Uptick in Petitioner Interviews

We have also noticed petitioner interviews coming up a little more often, as the chart below shows. To be clear, these interviews are still uncommon. The vast majority of I-130 IR Consular applicants will not receive one, but they do seem to be appearing somewhat more frequently than before. It may be another small sign that USCIS has adjusted how some of these cases are being handled, and we are watching closely to understand what it means for timelines.

The myUSCIS Glitch

Between July 22nd and July 23rd, 2026, a technical problem caused inaccurate case status information to display on some users' myUSCIS accounts. USCIS has confirmed that the myUSCIS glitch was a technical issue. It has since been resolved. Importantly, this glitch did not affect Track My Visa data, as these changes were never made available through the USCIS Developer API. What you see on your Track My Visa account is your real, current case status.

If your case did update to approved during the myUSCIS technical issue, be sure to check your documents tab on your myUSCIS account to verify the approval still stands.

We still have no official explanation for the slowdown, and unconfirmed reports of I-130 petitions being reassigned to field offices remain unverified. As always, we will share clearer signs of improvement as soon as we see them.
